William "Bill" Earl Barrett Jr., 41, of Round Rock, tragically lost his life in a tractor-trailer accident on Monday in San Antonio.
Bill was born on June 23, 1965 in Panama City, Florida, to parents William Earl Barrett Sr. and Myrlene McKuhen Barrett. He grew up in the area and graduated from Del Valle High School in 1983. After graduation Bill immediately enlisted in the Marine Corps. After serving one enlistment in the Marines Bill Joined the Army. Bill served a long and distinguished career in the Army until he retired as a Senior Drill Sergeant at Ft. Leonard Wood in 2004. Bill served in Kuwait during Desert Storm. He also saw service in Southeast Asia, Korea and Germany.
After his retirement, Bill Settled in Round Rock with his wife of 10 years, Teresa, and their children. Bill was a truck driver who owned and operated his truck. When Bill wasn't driving he loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed music and dancing as well as playing video games. Bill was a bright and shining star who loved to have fun and had a great sense of humor.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Barrett; sons, Remington William Barrett and Cody William Barrett; daughters, Blaise Ashlyn Barrett and Jessica Sherrell Barrett and Elizabeth Morgan Ellis; parents William Earl Barrett Sr. and Myrlene Barrett; brothers, Gerald Wayne Barrett, Terry Barrett and Tommy Barrett and sister, Tammy Melissa Barrett. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Monday at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Memorial Chapel. Committal services and interment followed with full military honors on Monday at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. [Based on an obituary published in the Austin American-Statesman on 7/22/2006.]
