OBITUARY :
MRS. CLARA L. BACHTELL, wife of J. A. Bachtell, RFD 2, Smithsburg, died at Waynesboro, Pa., Hospital Sunday evening at 7:30, aged 63 years, she had been suffering from a heart condition since May.

Born in Wolfsville, she was a daughter of the late Scott and Mary Ellen (Hoover) Martin. She spent the early part of her life at Wolfsville, and had lived since at RFD 2, Smithsburg.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Greensburg, and the Ladies Aid Society.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four children, Mrs. Howard Leather, Mrs. Kenneth Barkdoll, Guy M. Bachtell, R. Jesse Bachtell, all of Smithsburg; brothers, Adam B. and Edgar B. Martin, Wolfsville: sisters, Mrs. Marv V. Stottlemyer, Wolfsville; Mrs. Annie Miller, Edgemont; Mrs. Sarah Miner, Cearfoss; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

The service will be held today at 2 o'clock from the Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Pa., Dr. B. Clinton Ritz officiating. Burial in Smithsburg cemetery.
