PORT WENTWOTH MAN DIES OF BURNS
James Paul McLemore Jr., 36, of Port Wentworth died Tuesday at Medical University Of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston S.C., from burns sustained in a camping accident on Feb.3.
McLemore was camping with friends outside of Cobbtown when his clothing apparently caught fire from the campfire, according to members of the family. He sustained burns over 50 percent of his body.
The victim was taken to Candler County Hopital and then transferred to Effingham County Hospital, Candler General Hospital and the Medical University's Burn Center.
McLemore was a native of Swainsboro and had lived in Chatham County most of his life. He had attened the Baptist Church and was an employee of Georgia Pacific Corp.
Surviving are his father, James F. McLemore (This was a mistype it's James. P. McLemore) of Port wentworth, three sisters, Mrs. Ellis M. Davis of Charleston S.C. and Mrs. charles L. DuBois and Miss Tanya Powell, both of Savannah; a brother, Sherrod Hall McLemore of Port Wentworth; his maternal grandmother, Pauline S. Hall of Jesup; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fountain Funeral Home, with burial in Swainsboro City Cemetery.
