Floyd C. Bennett, Army Air Corps, age 20, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bennett of Blue Mountain [Mississippi]. He entered the service on December 9, 1942 and received his training at Keesler Field, Miss., and Army Air Field, Burshrell, Fla. He went overseas in 1944 to the Pacific. He was awarded the Bronze Star. His family was informed that he was missing in action on Palau on May 4, 1945 and later declared dead by the War Department. - World War II, Tippah Countians in The Service, 1941-1947, published by the Southern Sentinel, W.
