Our Angel Princess Mercedes Hegessy (Hegyessy) Woolsey returned to her Heavenly Father on December 2, 2010, after a long series of illnesses. Born on April 3, 1935, she was the daughter of James Frank Henry Hegessy and Harriet Eve (Eva) Jackson Hegessy. A graduate of East High School in Salt Lake City, she attended the University of Utah majoring in Art. She left one quarter before graduating to prepare to marry her sweetheart Karl Perry Woolsey, Jr. They were wed on August 28, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. Mercedes is the Mother of four boys, three living: Mark (Kehau), Punaluu, Hawaii; Kerry (Laura), Duval, Washington; Steven (Melissa), Ammon, Idaho; also survived by husband, Perry Woolsey; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson and sister, Maralyn LaVar. Preceded in death by son Bryan and parents. She was employed at Max Rasmussen Insurance; University of Utah as a secretary to the Assistant Dean of Students and the Utah State Road Commission as a secretary to the Assistant Director of Highways. Later she worked at the Barbazon Fabric Store in Sandy and after updating her secretarial skills at Salt Lake Community Collage worked for the Jordan School District. Active member of the LDS Church she held many positions of leadership. Mercedes drew people to her with her infectious smile which never left her even through the many illnesses and hospital stays. Mercedes has struggled for such a long time and now she is free and will receive her crown. She will be missed by her husband, family and friends. A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 106th South, Sandy on December 9, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 10th at 11 a.m. at the Alpine North Stake Center, 1125 East Alpine Boulevard, Alpine, with a viewing preceding the service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
