Thomas W. Cuddy, 84, a retired stockman and resident of the Fruita area for 62 years, died at 9:30 p.m. Friday in the family residence after a month-long illness.
He was born January 31, 1875, in Glasgow, Missouri, and came to Colorado as a young man. Settling in the Fruita area, he married Miss Sara E. Goss on December 25, 1904.
Mr. Cuddy was a member of the Church of Christ Scientist. He was a past grand of Fruita Odd Fellows Lodge 35. He retired from the cattle business in 1939.
In addition to his wife, survivors are a son, John V. Cuddy of Fruita; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Smith of Golden, Mrs. R. L. Klinzman of Denver and Mrs. M. W. Springer of Grand Junction; a brother, Frank, of Springfield, Missouri; a half-sister, Miss Mae Conrad of Glasgow; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Fruita Methodist Church. The Rev. R. W. Hoover will officiate. Fruita Odd Fellows Lodge 35 will conduct lodge services at the church and burial will be in the Memorial Gardens of the Valley. Starks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
