LOUISE LUCAS PARKS WAS BORN JULY 4TH , 1851 IN NEW LONDON, CANADA. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF RICHARD MINCHEN LUCAS AND LOUISA WINTER LUCAS.

HER FATHER, RICHARD MINCHEN LUCAS WAS BORN IN DUBLIN, IRELAND, OCTOBER 22, 1822. HIS FAMILY HAVING EMIGRATED TO THE EMERALD ISLE FROM ENGLAND IN THE 17TH CENTURY.
RICHARD MINCHEN LUCAS MET AND MARRIED LOUISA WINTER IN 1848.
SHORTLY THEREAFTER THEY EMIGRATED TO STRATFORD, ONTARIO, CANADA, WHERE THEIR THREE CHILDREN WERE BORN.
IN 1857 THEY SAILED FROM NEW YORK TO TEXAS BY STEAMER.
IN 1866 THEIR DAUGHTER LAURA DIED AND IS BURIED IN OAK HILL CEMETERY IN GOLIAD.

THE LUCAS FAMILY ENDED UP IN CUMMINGSVILLE,TEXAS AND LATER MOVED TO BERCLAIR AND BECAME RANCHERS. IT WAS THERE THAT LOUISE FIRST MET SOLOMON PARKS.
THE LUCAS FAMILY DID NOT CARE FOR SOLOMON BECAUSE HE LACKED A PROPER EDUCATION.

LOUISE LUCAS MARRIED SOLOMON PARKS ON DECEMBER 30, 1874.
BY THIS TIME THE PARKS RANCH HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED AND SOLOMON HAD ACCUMULATED NUMEROUS ACREAGE.
SOL AND LOUISE HAD 2 CHILDREN AND OPERATED THE 14,076 ACRES OF LAND.

AFTER SOLOMON'S DEATH IN 1914 THERE WAS SOME DEBT INCURRED AND LOUISE SOLD CATTLE TO HER NEPHEW, PRYOR LUCAS TO PAY FOR THE RANCH.

LOUISE LIVED ON THE RANCH UNTIL SHE MOVED TO HOUSTON IN LATER YEARS TO LIVE WITH HER DAUGHTER, IDA LAURA HUGGINS.
SHE RAISED HER OWN 2 CHILDREN, CYRUS AND IDA LAURA , AND 1 GRANDSON SOL MINCHEN PARKS, UNTIL THE AGE OF 8 YEARS.
SHE BECAME DEAF IN LATER YEARS AND USED A TYPE OF MEGAPHONE TO HEAR. LOUISE HUGGINS REMEMBERS HER USING THE MEGAPHONE AFTER SCHOOL TO LISTEN TO THE EVENTS OF THE SCHOOL DAY.

AFTER SOLOMON'S DEATH LOUISE LEASED THE LAND TO PRYOR LUCAS. THE LAND WAS LATER LEASED TO GEORGE RAY UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 1952.

THE RANCH WAS TO BE INHERITED BY CYRUS AND IDA UPON HER DEATH. BEFORE HER DEATH 3,000 ACRES OF THE PARKS RANCH NORTH OF THE RAILROAD WAS GIVEN TO HER SON CYRUS PARKS. UPON HER DEATH IDA LAURA HUGGINS INHERITED 7000 ACRES AND HER GRANDSON SOL INHERITED 4000 ACRES, HALF OF CYRUS' SHARE, AS OUTLINED IN THE ADOPTION.
