My Uncle Bruce was married to my mother's youngest sister, my Aunt Verla. They lived in another state, but we saw them a lot, especially in the summer months. He was a farmer as long as I can remember. He died of renal failure after being on a mediciation for arthritis for an extended period of time. It damaged his kidneys and he was on dialysis for a short time before he died.

Bruce Shepherd Giolas 1936 ~ 2004 Bruce returned to his Heavenly Father January 14, 2004 surrounded by his loving family at the family home in Riverton. He was born September 8, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah the youngest son of James Peter and Annie Haines Shepherd Giolas. He graduated from South High School the class of 1955. He joined the Army Reserve after high school. He married Verla June Nash, December 11, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a High Priest and was an active member all his life. The family moved to Riverton in August of 1964 to work on the East Millcreek LDS Welfare Farm. He worked for Murray Stake and then the Riverton Crops Project as Project Manager and retired after 35 years of service to the Welfare System. He loved farming and helping people in need. He is survived by his wife, Verla; his daughter Sandra (Ferron) Stokes; son Mike (Janet) Giolas all of Riverton; and son Robert (Aimee) Giolas of South Jordan; six grandchildren, Melissa (Allan) Harris of West Valley; Annie, Chance, Hunter; Dalton, and Wyatt Giolas of South Jordan; sister Patricia Hunt of Layton; brother James J. (Beth) Giolas of Salt Lake; sister Helen (Hal) Covington of Murray.

He was proceeded in death by an infant daughter, Sheri Lynn, and a stillborn son and stillborn daughter.
