Marie was born at Fargo, North Dakota on February 14, 1923, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Homan) Forkenbrock. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, grew up at Adrian, and graduated from Adrian High School in 1940. Marie went on to attend St. Theresa's College at Winona and Mankato State Teacher's College at Mankato, Minnesota and received her teaching certificate. She then taught at elementary schools in Magnolia and st. Paul Park, both in Minnesota. On June 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert C. Fall at St. Paul's Cathedral in St. Paul. the couple lived in Bemidji, for a short time, and then at Mankato before returning to Bemidji. Marie taught at St. Phillip's Elementary School in Bemidji and then was employed by the Minnesota Department of Transportation, was eventually transferred to the Crookston District office and so they moved to Crookston in 1971. Marie first worked at the S & L Store in Crookston and then taught kindergarten for many years, first at Cathedral Elementary School and then at the Migrant School. She retired from teaching in 1989. Bob passed away on September 9, 1996.

Marie was a very active member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parish, just as she had been at St. Phillip's in Bemidji. She was also a member of the Oblate of St. Benedict and St. Francis Circle. She sang in the Cathedral's Resurrection Choir, and over the years had acted in several Crookston Community Theatre productions. From her passion for education, to her compassion for those less fortunate than herself, Marie lived a life that was dedicated to service to others. Even as diabetes began to slow her pace, her spirit could not be dampened. Her unconditional love for her family, and the great joys she received from her grandchildren, were all she needed to make her life complete.

Loving family members include two sons and a daughter in law, Michael Fall of Bemidji, and Donald and Patrice Fall of Crookston; four grandchildren, Amanda Torgerson of Moorhead, Roberta Fall of St. Cloud, Ben Fall and his fiance, Erin Hagen, of Twin Valley, Anne DeLong and her husband Bruce of Crookston; a sister in law Jane Schroeder of St. Paul; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Marie will be truly missed and very lovingly remembered by them and also by her many many friends. Besides her husband, Bob, she was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers Jack and Lawrence Forkenbrock.
