Ernest Charchenko, 53, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Crookston, died unexpectedly Saturday at Pheonix.
He was born July 18, 1913 at Kildeer, North Dakota and Came to Crookston in 1936. He farmed for a time in the Crookston area. He moved to Phoenix eight years ago being in construction work. He was a member of the Moose Lodge at Phoenix
His wife, the former Mildred Lance, died in 1946.
Survivors include two sons, Michael in the Navy, stationed at Pearl Harbor and John also in the Navy, serving aboard the USS Oriskany now docked at San Francisco. Both sons are enroute to Crookston for funeral services.
Also surviving are five brothers, Prince of Crookston, Thomas of North Dakota, Sam of Missoula, Montana, Joe of Hibbing and William of Westminster, California; and three sisters, Mrs. Orvin (Mary) Grondahl of Crookston, Mrs. Tony (Ann) Leiss of Kildeer North Dakota, and Mrs. Lester (Rose) Holt of Minneapolis.
Funeral Arrangemnts are pending at the Stenshoel Funeral Home in Crookston.

Rites on Thursday for E. Charchenko
Funeral services for Ernest Charchenko, 53, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Crookston will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Stenshoel Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Johnson officiating.
Pallbearers will be James Lance, Roy Scully, Frank Cizl, Lester Holt, Richard Lance and Orvin Grondahl.
The body may be viewed this afternoon and evening and until time of services tomorrow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
