Thomas Amiot

Thomas Amiot, 59, a lifelong Crookston resident, died at United Hospital in Grand Forks Sunday.

He was born in Crookston on June 21, 1925 to the late Adrian and Josephine Vaudrin Amiot. He married Mary Adele Regan on June 5, 1946. he had been employed by the Dubuque Tire Shop in Crookston, the Crookston Granite Company and for the past 31 years he served as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Crookston. He retired on July 20 of this year.

He served as a staff sergeant with the National Guard during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, the Knights of Columbus, Eagles Aerie 873, the American Legion and the Letter Carriers Association.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas Lee of Bottineau, North Dakota; Lawrence of Crookston; three daughters, Mrs, Jane Marie (Larry) Murphy of Warren, Mrs. JoAnne (Dale) Bakken of Osseo, and Mrs. Mary Louise (Kevin) Ramey of Brooklyn Center; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Henriette (Leonard) Audette of Crookston; three brothers, Louis of Grand Forks, Victor and Patrick, both of Crookston; on step-sister Dorothy Gjesdahl of Mentor; and two step-brothers, Francis St. Michel of Mentor and Ralph St. Michel of Washington State; as well as nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Crookston. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at Stenshoel Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., and Knights of Columbus rosary service immediately following the prayer service.
