Adele Elaine Amiot, 86, of Crookston, Minnesota, died peacefully, Monday evening, July 21, 2008 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston. Adele was born on April 30, 1922 on the family farm near Argyle, Minnesota, the daughter of Emil and Rose (Dufault) Fournier. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Rosa Lima Catholic Church in Argyle where she also attended elementary school. Adele completed her education at the St. Joseph's Academy in Crookston. On November 25, 1941, she was united in marriage to Victor Amiot in Argyle. The couple made their home in Crookston, where they lived all of their married lives. In addition to being a homemaker Adele worked at the rectory of St. Anne's Catholic Church, for the Sisters of St. Joseph's, Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home and at Hugo's Grocery Store Bakery. She was a member of several service organizations, sang in the church choir and volunteered in the community at large. Adele's real love, after her family and friends, was playing cards. She would always say "Cards are my life, never tire of playing".

Adele's family members include three sons and daughters-in-law, Bernard and Lorretta Amiot of Watkinsville, GA, Allen and Mary Amiot of Bloomington, MN, and Edward and Patty Amiot of Crookston, MN; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Jeanie Stoe) Amiot, Tony Amiot, Rainey Amiot and Nicole (Jon) Erickson; five great-grandchildren, Alexander and Cameron Stoe, Kendrick, Ella and Aimee Erickson; three step-grandchildren, Andrew (Jane) Skretvedt, Dr. John (Rachel) and son Paul Skretvedt, and Philip Skretvedt; a sister, Dorene Enge of Thief River Falls, MN; a brother, Clarence Fournier of Duluth, MN; many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Adele is also survived by her "Bestest" friend, Milly Regeimbal of Crookston; and many other special friends in and around Crookston. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor; a grandson, Darin Amiot; her parents, Emil and Rose Fournier; sisters, Lorraine Swanson and Ruth Imstadhl; and a brother, Clifford Fournier.

The funeral service for Adele Amiot will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 25, 2008 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston, with The Very Reverend Robert Schreiner, presiding. Visitation will be on Thursday at the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home from 5-7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service and also for an hour before the funeral at the church. Interment will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston.
