Sgt. Henry Wax "Heinrich Wachs" was born before 1745, in Wartenberg. Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, to Johann Philippus Wachs.

He was naturalized as an American citizen on April 10, 1767, in Philadelphia, PA. He first married Margaret Geschwind on May 11, 1767, in Alsace, Berks Co., PA.

He second married Mrs. Catherine (Noll) Keysor on May 1, 1791, in Greenbrier Co., VA. They had no children together.

He is said to have been buried with both wives in Fincastle Presbyterian Church Cemetery, formerly The Church of England Cemetery.
