Birth: Jan. 15, 1922
Glen Rose
Somervell County
Texas, USA
Death: Oct. 29, 2010

Esther Laura Cruce, the matriarch of our family, went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, on Friday afternoon, Oct. 29, 2010, during her 88th year. Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, at Granbury Church of Christ. Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park, Granbury. Visitation: 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Martin's Funeral Home, Granbury. Born in Glen Rose in 1922 to Claude and Vera Parvin, Laura was the apple of her father's eye. She was always full of life, with lots of friends. She graduated from Glen Rose High School in May 1940 and started her favorite job of all times, being the wife of Marvin W. Cruce on Aug. 31, 1940, after a one-month courtship. Their marriage lasted over 65 years. Laura was the queen of our family. She was our nana, mentor, cheerleader, family historian and spiritual guide. Her love for her family was matched only by her love for Jesus Christ. She did not fear death, but was looking forward to being with her beloved husband again. She wrote that she would be blending her voice with the angels in praise to God as soon as she arrived. Laura thought those she loved were perfect and she rarely said a discouraging word to her family or friends, ever supportive and positive. She was proud of her two sons and was always their biggest champion. She was the greatest mother-in-law in the world. She has passed a legacy of love, duty, hospitality and faithfulness to family and God to her two grandchildren and seven great-grandsons. "Her children rise up and call her blessed." Survivors: Sons, Robert E. Cruce and Fred M. Cruce and wife, Jeani; grandchildren, Chad E. Cruce and wife, Michelle, and Chelby Dugger and husband, Geoff; great-grandsons, Justin, Cade and Cord Cruce, Jaxson, Cooper, Sawyer and Ryder Dugger; and nephews, Michael, Rodney and Rickey Parvin.
