Bill Claiborne Sr., 78, of Chattanooga, TN passed away, Friday, October 1, 2010, at Hospice of Chattanooga.
Mr. Claiborne was a member of White Oak United Methodist Church.
He started his career as a radio announcer in 1953 and spent many years at WRGS in Rogersville, also having MC'd at the Grand Ole Opry for two years.
Mr. Claiborne was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerney and Dollie Rhoades Claiborne.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Parvin Claiborne; daughters, Frankie Lynn Trivett and husband, Jeff, of Kingsport, Tenn., Melody Vaughn and husband, Jay, of Loudon, Tenn., Tammy Talbot and husband, Kerry, of Rocky Face, Ga.; son, Bill Claiborne Jr. and wife, Laura, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Brandy Smith and husband, Brian, of Chattanooga, Katie Vaughn, of Loudon, Tenn., Whitney Karr and husband, Chris, of Chattanooga, Ashley Vaughn, of Loudon, Tenn., Savanna Talbot, of Rocky Face, Ga., Nichole Trivett, Jessee Trivett, both of Kingsport, Tenn., Caseon Talbot, of Rocky Face, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Dylan Smith, Hayden Smith, Landon Karr, Regan Karr, all of Chattanooga; sisters, Kathleen Johnson, of Spartanburg, S.C. and Jean Knight, of Atlanta, Ga.; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., today, October 3, 2010, at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville.
Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Monday, October 4, 2010, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Steve Parker officiating.
Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Hawkins County Color Guard.
Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville is serving the Claiborne family.
