BUTTE FISHERMEN FIND BODY Of ANDY ANDERSON
The funeral of Mr. Anderson will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Brundage chapel with Rev. H. c. Hjortho1m officiating. Interment will be made in Mountain View cemetery. The body of Andy Anderson, 71, who drowned in the Big Hole river Monday evening, was found at 2:30 yesterday afternoon on a sand bar by a party of Butte fishermen. The fishermen were unaware that a tragedy had occurred and that authorities were looking for the body. Sheriff Paul Temple and deputy Burl Stephens, patrolman Bob Wright, and sheriff Brooks, of Madison county, were searching the river above the spot where the body was found.
The accident happened after supper Monday evening. Mr. Anderson had been wanting to go fishing with friends. The drowned man was handling the boat when Gunnar saw it was going to hit a tree in the river. He quickly pulled off his boots and grabbed the tree. His uncle also caught hold of the tree and they were able to make their way to the shore. The last they saw of Mr. Anderson was when he went down with the boat, it is reported.
While search was being made for the body, Lars Kalsta suggested that a sack of potatoes and a jug of water be dropped in the river where the accident happened and it would float to where the body finally anchored. Sheriff Temple said he was fol1ow1ng the sack when the body was reported found.
Mr. Anderson had worked for Lars Kalsta for 18 years. The tragedy occurred near Glen. The remains are at Brundage funeral home, pending arrangements for the funeral.
Raymond Schwartz, county coroner, was notified as soon as the body was found.
