Birth: 1836
Alabama, USA
Death: 1859
Sulphur Springs
Hopkins County
Texas, USA

Sarah emigrated from Alabama to Indian Territory in 1836, when she was one year old, in the company of her father Alexander Fitzgerald and mother Polly (Lott) Fitzgerald, who was of Creek lineage. Alexander led a small party of Creeks, emigrating as an independent group. Later, in Arkansas, around 1853, Sarah married William Wesley Clark, an intinerant cobbler. In 1854 their daughter Mary Clark was born. Both Sarah and her mother Polly settled in Sulphur Springs, Texas, where in 1857 Polly deeded an acre of land to Sarah, from a 3 1/2 acre parcel that had been deeded to her by the founder of Sulphur Springs, Owen S. Davis. In or about 1859 Sarah died, and William Clark left Mary to be raised by Owen Davis and his wife Amanda. (Amanda, also of Creek lineage, had emigrated back in 1837 with the Fitzgerald party) Mary appears in the 1860 census as a 6 yr old, living in the Davis household. The location of Sarahs grave is yet to be determined. William Clark later married Laura Boss in Sulphur Springs in 1866, and Mary Clark married William O. Price in the same city in 1873.
