Mrs. Julia Z. Kuchis, 92, of Patroon Drive, Guilderland, NY died peacefully Saturday, July 10, 2010 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. Born on April 11, 1918 in Amsterdam, NY she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Vaitkunas Zakark.

A lifelong area resident, Julia was a 1936 graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She later went on to attend St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing, Russell Sage and the College of St. Rose. Julia was employed for as a school nurse for over 22 years for the Ravena- Coeymans- Selkirk Central School District, retiring in 1978.

Mrs. Kuchis was a communicant of Christ the King R.C. Church and was a member of the Albany Catholic Council of Nurses.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Kuchis on August 6, 1959; and a sister Adele Mikolaitis in 1956.

Survivors include her devoted nephew, John Mikolaitis of Guilderland, NY and many cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at 11 o'clock at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, NY with the Rev. John Medwid as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Casimir's Cemetery. There is no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
