MISSIONARY OLA DEE CORTNER KING
Died at 1:00 pm on Sunday. Retired Bedford County school teacher for over 46 years. Career spanned three significant eras of educational systems - segregation, consolidation and integration. Her goal was when a child left her tutelage they could read, write their name, and count money; skills she felt would carry them through life.
At the tender age of 10 she became one of the founding members of the Union Ridge Church of God In Christ.
Married to Bishop Audley King for 48 years. She would teach school during the year and attend college during the summers.
Member of the Church of God In Christ for 79 years, over 30 years as a District Missionary and Assistant Jurisdictional Supervisor, over 40 years the Prayer and Bible Band Leader of her local church.
Funeral at 12:00 noon at Bright Temple Church of God In Christ. Superintendent Larry James Crismon, Officiant; Elder Willie Lee Rippy, Eulogist.
