On June 14, 1910, he was married to Ada Essig. To this union, four sons were born. Wilfred and Kermit and their two sons passed away in infancy. His wife passed away on October 13, 1917. On November 25, 1918, he married Hattie (Seifert) Blank. She passed away on November 28, 1967.
He lived in Germantown Township until 1918 when he moved to Amboy Township, on the place where Wilfred now lives. At that time, he was a member of the Red Rock Church, in which he held several offices. In 1937 they moved to Jeffers where he lived when he passed away. In Jeffers, he was a member of the United Methodist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent. He also held an office in the Farmers Creamery, Farmers Oil Co., and Amboy Township. He enjoyed music, fishing, and work.
He leaves to mourn his two sons, Wilfred of Sanborn, Kermit of Minneapolis, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, wives, and all his brothers and sisters. --Cottonwood County Citizen, 25 May 1971, page 9
