Anna Laura "Laura" Doughty Perrine
Birth: Jan. 5, 1866
Pike County
Illinois, USA
Death: Jan. 17, 1944
Livingston County
Illinois, USA

Thank you to Noname for sponsoring my great grandmother's memorial. It means a lot to me!

Laura was the daughter of Francis & Ann (Holloway) Doughty.

Note the 4-generation photo of Great Grandma Perrine, her mother and her daughter, and her daughter's baby taken in 1918. The baby was my aunt Thelma who passed away in December 2009. Aunt Thelma had the photo clearly marked. It was taken when she was a few months old. This is probably the last photo of Ann Holloway Doughty, who died shortly after the picture was taken.

Great Grandma Perrine's daughter Nellie died in childbirth along with her infant daughter. She left behind her husband and 3 small children. The youngest child was my mother, and she was 3 years old. Great Grandma Perrine stepped in and helped with her grandchildren. She lived about 2-3 miles away in a little tiny town called Wing. My Mom, her sister and brother dearly loved this grandmother. She was there for them, and they spent many, many weekends with her and Great Grandpa.

After my grandfather remarried a few years later, his new wife already had children of her own. Mom said that they continued to spend weekends with their Grandmother Laura, but it became a big issue in the blended family.

My Mom and her siblings stayed very close to their grandparents, until Great Grandpa died in 1930. Then it was just the 3 kids and their grandma. She took them to church, and she was very kind to the children. She was a huge influence on them. She was dearly loved. Since my Mother never really knew her own mother, Great Grandma was a mother-figure to her and her siblings.

Laura was a generous, gentle, and loving lady, and I wish I had known her. My mother adored her.
