He Enlisted among the first, Served in both the Infantry and Cavalry, was Scout, Spy, Aid-de-Camp, and Clerk at headquarters.

Was in Arkansas Campaign, at the Battle of Jackson Port, captured and took Possession of a printing office and issued a sheet on wrapping paper called the Arkansas Traveler.
