Hollenbeck Henry Madison Hollenbeck was born in Indiana, June 1, 1835, and departed this life in Larkinburg, February 24, 1920, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 23 days. He was married to Sara Ellen Waters, August 3, 1854, who preceded him to their heavenly home just 3 months and 19 days. To this union were born nine children; four of whom passed from this life in infancy. He leaves to mourn their loss four sons, Oscar of Larkinburg, Edwin of Netawaka, William of Holton and Ora of Arrington, also one daughter Mary Cozad of Fairfax, California. He leaves 26 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren, also two half sisters, Mrs. Andrew Worley of Holton and Mrs. Clay White of Holton and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Baptist church. On August 1862, he volunteered and served until the close of the Civil war, being a member of Co. B. 11th Regiment, Kansas Cavalry. The funeral service was held at the Larkinburg Christian church, February 26, conducted by Rev. Albert V. Hart and burial was made in the Larkinburg cemetery. (He was actually buried in Holton cemetery.)
