William Parkinson was born to Thomas K. and Margret (McKee) Parkinson in abt. October 1836 (source: 1900 census). He relocated with his birth family to Bernadotte Twp., Fulton Co., Illinois, abt. 1853.
Here he met and married Mary Elizabeth Belford. They were married on February 27, 1864, in Fulton Co., Illinois.
Their children Thomas, Luretta, Lottie, and Lucretia, were all born in Illinois. William's occupation was farming.
In the mid-1870's the William Parkinson family, along with other Belford family members, made a move to live in Kaufman Co., Texas. Here they put down their "roots", and began to farm. Their daughter Lottie died in 1880. Daughter Luretta married in 1882; daughter Lucretia married in 1888. Son Thomas married in 1889.
1900 census shows they own their farm in Kaufman Co., free of mortgage.
His widow, Mary E. Parkinson, survived him.
His grave in Lawrence Cemetery is marked with a four-sided marker bearing the names of himself, his daughter Lottie, John Belford his father-in-law and Ann Belford his mother-in-law.
The Daily Transcript (Terrell, TX) August 28, 1902:
"William Parkerson of near Kaufman died at seventy years.
He was buried in the Lawrence Cemetery this morning."
