James Smith Succumbs at Capron Home

Long time and well known resident of the county dies from a stroke of apoplexy suffered on Friday night - Lived near Prairie half century - Rites on Monday.

James A Smith, most of whose life was passed on a farm, four miles north of Garden Prairie, died at 4 o'clock this morning at his home in Capron where the family has lived of late years.

Death resulted from a stroke of apoplexy which he suffered at about 6 o'clock last night and from which he failed to rally.

He was born at Niles, Ill., May 23, 1861 and 12 years later came to Boone county. His marriage to Miss Mary Hutchinson took place on June 30, 1866. The home was made for about 50 years on the farm north of the Prairie after whcih they removed to Capron.

He is survived by the widow, two sons, Robert W. and Ralph, of Capron; a daughter Mrs. E. M. Watkins, of Garden Prairie; five brothers, William, Albert, Robert, and Charles, all of Capron, and George, of Sharon, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Jas Phinney, of Great Bear Lake, Minn.,and Miss Nellie Smith, of Capron. There are also six grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at the home on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Ivan Obenshein officiating, and burial will be in the Capron cemetery.
