Death Takes Former Greene Co. Woman
The funeral of Mrs. S. E. Delaney, former Greene County woman, was held Tuesday afternoon at the Wadestown, W. Va. Methodist Episcopal church. Interment was in the Wadestown cemetery.
Mrs. Delaney was born September 26, 1856, and died Saturday, March 7, 1931, aged 74 years, five months and 11 days. She had been ill for the past year.
She was a daughter of the late David and Leah Lemley, of Mt. Morris, and was united in marriage to William Morris Delaney, of Wadestown, in 1874. Mrs. Delaney's husband preceded her to the grave, departing this life April 11, 1918.
Mrs. Delaney is survived by six children: Irvin Delaney, Clarksburg, W. Va.; Bertha Myers, Mannington, W. Va.; Clara Smith, Colfax, W. Va.; Icie Somin [sic], Fairmont, W. Va.; Oscar Delaney, St. Leo, W. Va., and Ava Collins, Grafton, W. Va. She also leaves 15 grandchildren: Pearl Smith Kyer, Delbert Smith, Ogarite Smith, Cook Smith, Helen Costello, Madeline Simon, Mary Simon, Glenn Barr, Lawrence Delaney, Ralph Delaney, Everett Delaney, Russell Delaney, Wilma Delaney, Juanita Delaney, and three great-grandchildren, Kenneth Kyer, Galen Kyer and Jamie Lee Cook. She is also survived by three brothers, Charles, Harvey, and Newton Lemley, all of Mt. Morris.
She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal church.
She died at the home of her daughter, Mr. E. E. Smith, of Colfax, W. Va., and brief services were held there Monday afternoon in charge of the Rev. I. A. Canfield, Fairmont, W. Va.
