Major League Baseball Player. Pitcher Joe Giard was originally property of the Yankees, but was traded to the St. Louis Brown before the 1925 season along with Joe Bush and Milt Gaston for a former Yankees pitcher, Urban Shocker. After two seasons in St. Louis where he went 10-5 and 3-10 he was traded back to New York along with Cedric Durst for Sad Sam Jones in February of 1927. Giard was a member of the famed '27 Yankees Murderers Row Team, going 0-0 in just 18 games, all in mop-up relief. He was released to the American Association after the season, ending his Major League Career. His lifetime record in the majors was 13-15 in 68 games with a 5.96 ERA.  (bio by: Frank Russo)
