Ernest Edwin McDaniel is the son of Lewis Ellison "Daws" and Della Mae (Parris) McDaniel. On Jul 9, 1916, Ernest married Mary Luvina Hyde, daughter of Roscoe Cyrus and Zilla Anna (Honiter) Hyde in Scotland County, Missouri. The couple began their life together in Union Township and started their family there with the births of Mona Marie and Roscoe Lewis McDaniel. Due to Mary's health, they spent some years in the west, living in Colorado and New Mexico. They later returned to the midwest and spent many years living in Carthage, Hancock County, Illinois. Around 1960, they returned to Scotland County, Missouri, and in 1963 moved to Cedar Lane Farm in Union Township -- the farm where Mary was born. Ernest worked as a grocery store clerk, for the Huey Seed Company, as manager of a garden seed store, as a house painter, and in his later years had a Watkins sales route.
