Stacey Lynn Amos, 18, of Norfolk Va., formerly of Ontario Village, Eighty Four, Pa died Wednesday April 20, 1994, in Norfolk.

She was born April 14, 1976, in Washington, a daughter of Donald Boyd Sr. and Edna M. Pinkerton Boyd of Ontario Village.

She was a former student of Bentworth High School.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband Charles C. Amos. Jr. , serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt, two brothers Donald D. Boyd Jr. and Carl Edward Boyd, both of Eighty Four, Pa. one sister Wendy Renee Boyd of Eighty Four, Pa. Half brother Mattthew Elmer Newman, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, her paternal grandmother Gertrude M. Boyd of Washington, Her maternal Grandparents Carl and Virginia Pinkerton of Claysville, Pa.and several aunts and uncles. Her paternal grandfather Ernest James Boyd died March 14, 1966.



Area native found slain in Virginia


A Washington County native was found stabbed to death in her Norfolk, Virginia apartment Wednesday morning and a neighbor has been charged with her murder according to a newspaper in Virginia.

The Virginia Pilot reported that 18 year old Stacey Lynn Amos was found dead in her apartment at 8:40 AM Wednesday by friends while her husband, who is the Navy, was at sea.

Police told the Norfolk morning newspaper that there were signs of "visible physical trauma" but would not give further details about the condition of the body and the cause of death until the state medical examiner made a determination.

Norfolk police and the state medical examiner could not be reached Friday evening.

The family declined comment.
According to a friend of the family the women had been stabbed.
Melvin W. Reid, 39, was arrested by Norfolk police Wednesday afternoon. Police described him as an acquaintance
of the victim the Virginia Pilot reported. He lived in an apartment across the street from the Amoses.

Charles C. Amos Jr. was serving on the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt when his wife was found dead at home. He was flown to Norfolk to view the body Wednesday afternoon, the paper said.

The apparent murder did not take place on any of the seven military installations in the East Coast Port City.

The couple was married in February 1993 and had no children.

Amos was born in Washington and previously lived in Ontario Village, Eighty Four, Pa. She was a former student at Bentworth High School.
