Jasper Ward Baldridge, age 79, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born in Pearson on October 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Jesse and Lena (Newby) Baldridge.
A member of one of the pioneering families of Cleburne County, Mr. Baldridge was a longtime resident of the area. He was a retired firefighter for the Little Rock Fire Department and a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Air Force. Ward was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church at Pearson. He enjoyed life, especially spending time with his family and visiting with his many friends. Among his hobbies were gardening and hunting.
Ward is survived by his wife, Iva Jean New Baldridge of Quitman;
his son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Jennie Baldridge of Quitman; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John Waldrup of Heber Springs; his sister, Geraldine Roberts of Heber Springs;
five grandchildren, Mark Waldrup and his wife, Millissa, Daniel Waldrup, Russell Baldridge, Blake Baldridge, and Martina Grant;
and four great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Waldrup, Christah Waldrup, John Mark Waldrup, and Jacob Waldrup. Mr. Baldridge is also survived by many other relatives and friends who will miss him.
