Born in Trinidad, Natalie had lived there previously until age 11, and later in Queens and then Switzerland. She was a Brooklyn Technical High School graduate, a Wellesley College political science graduate, and a marketing administrative assistant at Saudi Petroleum College.
She was also a poet and loved fashion, ice skating, music, dancing, film and literature.
In her funeral mass at St. Bernadette R.C. Church, she was described as "very honest and tough, yet vibrant, energetic and captivating," with a love for this city with its people from diverse backgrounds.
She is survived by her father Ulric Assee.
