Geraldine Jarrell Beall, 77, of Charlottesville, died on Saturday, October 1, 2011, at Rosewood Village.
She was born on October 23, 1933, in Greene County, the daughter of the late Floyd E. Jarrell and Thelma B. Jarrell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. "Jack" Beall Jr.; two sisters, Magdalene "Maggie" Amos and Shelby Taylor; a brother, James "Jim" Jarrell; and a very dear aunt, Gertrude Jenkins of Orange County.
A graduate of Orange County High School, Gerry went on to attend The Blue Ridge Sanatorium School of Nursing and was licensed as a Certified Tuberculosis Nurse. Gerry continued her nurse's training at the University of Virginia and received her Registered Nurse license. She was a Life Member of Blue Ridge Sanatorium Nurses' Alumnae Association. Caring for others was Gerry's life-calling and she found the perfect work in nursing, leaving that profession only when her health issues made it impossible to continue. Taylor of Palmyra; a nephew, Dennis G. Taylor; and cousins and dear friends, George D. and Barbara Shipp of Charlottesville and Charles L. and Cathy Shipp of Woodstock; and a host of other family members.
Gerry will be dearly remembered by her family, friends, patients and their families, and her neighbors, for her kindness, caring, and compassion. She had a smile that was very contagious and brightened many lives.
A graveside funeral service was conducted Thursday, October 6, 2011,at Monticello Memory Gardens, with Pastor Roger Browning officiating. The family received friends Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
