Roman Catholic Pope. The sixth occupant of the Holy See, he was elected in 106 AD. Little is known of his life. His papacy ended 115 AD. It is said that he was born in Rome and that he suffered a martyr's death by decapitation at the Via Nomentana on May 3. He was predecessor of Pope Evaristus and successor of Pope Sixtus I.
