William E. Bennett, 85, of Red Bluff, has passed away.
Born in Nebraska. He had resided in Red Bluff for the last 39 years.
Bill was a 26 year Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served in World War II, Korean and Vietnam. After a one week courtship, Bill and Kathleen were married August 14, 1953 in Olathe, Kansas. She and her two sons, Robert and Vernal, became his family.
With his active service in the Air Force, they lived in such places as San Francisco, Virginia, Hawaii and Texas. After retiring from the military in 1968, the family became permanent residents of Red Bluff.
Bill became a locksmith and for 17 years owned and operated Bill's Lock Shop in downtown Red Bluff. After selling his business he settled down to enjoy life with his wife, sons, and grandchildren. Bill was an avid reader and a movie buff. He particularly enjoyed sitting on his deck watching trains passing by and the sunset. He loved to laugh and make humorous remarks.
Bill's legacy is his family. Throughout his life, his family provided him with his greatest happiness. His passing has left behind many wonderful memories of a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen A. Bennett, sons Robert Clonts and Vernal Clonts, grandchildren Benjamin Clonts, Christopher Clonts, Christine Clonts, James Clonts and greatgrandchild Bradley Clonts.
Services were held at Shepherd's House of Prayer with Brent Kohler officiating.
