Dwight Craft, District chief
Dwight Craft, 48, of Country Bend Place, a Jackson Fire Department district chief, died of gunshot wounds Wednesday at the Central Fire Station. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
Services are 4 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with burial at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation is 8 a.m. – noon today at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home.
Chief Craft was a Raleigh native and had lived in the Pearl and Jackson areas for 37 years. He was a graduate of Pearl High School. He had worked for the Jackson Fire Department for 26 years and was chief of District 2. He was a member of the department's apparatus committee. He was a member of the Mississippi State Firefighters Association, the National Fire Chiefs Association, the Jackson Firefighters Association and the International Association of Firefighters.
Chief Craft was a member if Alta Woods Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: wife, Judy; sons, Bradley Dean Craft of Jackson and Kevin Lee Craft of Clinton; daughter, Kristen Nichole Craft of Jackson; father, W. L. Craft of Raleigh; sister, Joyce Elaine Carr of Pearl; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Mississippi affiliate, 16 Northtown Drive, Suite 100, Jackson, MS 39211; or the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Center in Greenville.
