Paul Williams Barton passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010.

Paul was born September 7, 1926 to William Clark Barton and Alice E. Williams Barton and grew up in Kaysville, Utah.

After graduating from Davis High School in 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until the end of World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, he attended and graduated from Brigham Young University.

Paul married Janice Jensen on February 15, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Soon after, he was called to active duty in the Navy during the Korean War. From October 1951 to November 1952, he served onboard the U.S.S. John A. Bole, a Navy destroyer that was involved in many firing missions along the Korean coast. His active duty ended in November 1952 and he was honorably discharged in August 1954.

He served faithfully in teaching and leadership roles in many LDS organizations, including many years on the Bountiful North Stake High Council and as Bishop of the Bountiful Twenty-Seventh Ward.

He was a talented and respected teacher and leader. He worked as a counselor at Union High School in Roosevelt, Utah, Bountiful High School, Viewmont High School, and Bountiful Junior High School. He retired in 1990 after thirty-six years of service.

As a capable counselor and administrator, he was known for his organizational skills and his passion for the profession. He influenced the lives of many students over several decades of dedicated service in Utah schools.

From 1993 to 1994, Paul served with Janice in the Australia, Adelaide LDS mission. He loved the people there and will be remembered for the love and kindness he showed to many dear friends in Port Lincoln, South Australia and in other areas.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Janice J. Barton, parents William Clark Barton and Alice E. Williams Barton and brother William Kaye Barton.
