Dolores 'Dee' Gay, 80, passed away Friday, Mar 9, 2012 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday, 12 Mar 2012 at Murphy Cemetery near Nevada, Iowa.
Dee was born January 29, 1932 to Floyd and Catherine (Smith) Miller in Boone, Iowa. She graduated from Polk City High School and lived in Des Moines since 1941. On Nov 16, 1951 she married the love of her life, Gilbert Gay. Gib passed away on July 24, 1977. Although they never had children of their own, Dee was a very big part of the lives of her nieces, nephews and children in her neighborhood, she was Aunt Dee to all of them. Dee worked as a bookkeeper for DMT Transportation.
Survivors include her brother, Arlie (Cornella) Miller of Des Moines; nieces and nephews, Dan Gilchrist, Chris Gilchrist, Tammy King, Lisa (Keith) Neal, Becky Gilchrist, Arlie (Carrie) Miller, Jr., Todd (Jamie) Miller, Tim Wight, and Steve Wight; Many great nieces and nephews. Dee was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Verna Wight and Donna Gilchrist, and her husband,
