GARDEN CITY, Utah -- Dolly Freda Jenkins Hansen, 84, our loving mother and friend, returned to our Heavenly Father on Friday, July 11, 2003, from natural causes at the Skilled Nursing Facility in Montpelier, Idaho. She was born Sept. 11, 1918, to her loving parents, Aldwin and Rosella Walton Jenkins, in Auburn, Wyo. At the age of six she and her family moved to the Bear Lake Valley, finally settling in Pickleville, Utah, where she lived until five months before her death. Dolly married her eternal companion, Delbert C. Hansen on Aug. 11, 1935. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. Dolly was active in many church callings. Relief Society Secretary and visiting teaching were her favorite callings. Dolly was a true friend, a loving and generous mother, and an inspiration to all that had the privilege of knowing her.
Dolly is survived by her children, Delmoine (Colleen) Hansen of Paris, Idaho, Marlene Hess of Cokeville, Wyo., Beverly (Art) Rufi of Evanston, Wyo., Dennis (Marsha) Hansen of Mountain View, Wyo., Vern (Jo) Hansen of Layton, Utah, Huck (Jana) Hansen of Smithfield, Utah, Bud Hansen and Deb Hansen both of Logan, Utah, one sister, Rula Hansen of Garden City, Utah, 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her oldest son Rodney and his wife Marilyn, one son-in-law, Art Hess, one great-great-granddaughter Shaelyn Hansen, and her brothers and sisters, Rodney, Ruel, Beulah, Vergie, Vonda, Belva, Nello, and Una.
"God knew you were suffering, that the hills were hard to climb, so he gently closed your eyelids and whispered, 'Peace be Thine.'In tears we watched you sinking, we watched you fade away. Our hearts were nearly broken, you fought so hard to stay. It broke our hearts to see you go, but you did not go alone, for a part of us went with you, the day God called you home."
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 11 a.m. in the Bear Lake Ward Chapel in Garden City, Utah, where friends may call that morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and burial will be in the Garden City Cemetery with services under the direction of Matthews Mortuary of Montpelier, Idaho.
A very heartfelt thanks to the Bear Lake Home Health Care, and the Skilled Nursing Facility in Montpelier, Idaho, for all their kindness and loving care to our mother.
