CANASTOTA >> Josephine J. "Jody" Allen, 88, formerly of Route 31, Canastota, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at the Katherine Luther Home, Clinton, after being in poor health for several years.
She was born on June 19, 1927, in Canastota, a daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Snyder Snell.
Jody lived in Canastota most of her life, attending the Canastota schools.
She retired from Diemolding Corp. in Canastota, after 25 years of service.
Jody enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She married Ernest F. "Sonny" Allen on Oct. 5, 1946, in Canastota. Sonny died on April 13, 2007.
Surviving are: one son and daughter-in-law, David Sr. and Judy Allen of Chitenango; one sister, Luella Curtis of Canastota; two grandchildren, David Jr. and Amy Allen, and Christopher and Amy Allen; two great-grandchildren, Griffin Allen and Gillian Allen; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jody was predeceased by two sons, Terry E. Allen and Randall D. "Randy" Allen; two brothers, Samuel Snell and Lester Snell; and three sisters, Esther Snell, Dorothy Graham and Alta "Dawny" Graham.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 19, 2015, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. The Rev. Mick Keville, pastor of CrossRoads Community Church, North Chittenango, will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the funeral home, 201 James St., Canastota.
