He served CO I 8th Cav in Civil War, having been paid to serve another man's duty. Family Tradition says that his horse was shot out from beneath him. His family lived on a farm in East Decatur. Enoch was a vocal instructor and rode by horseback to the various places the young mens' choir met. He also cut timber and sold it for lumber during the winter along with his farming."
