"Van Buren County Genealogies, Vol 1, Pioneers of Our Family" Compiled 1986 by Shirley Swift Howe. Johnson Graphics, Decatur, MI. p 19: "...held various township offices in Allegan Co., Watson Twp. He served CO I 8th Cav in Civil War, having been paid to serve another man's duty. Family Tradition says that his horse was shot out from beneath him. His family lived on a farm in East Decatur. Enoch was a vocal instructor and rode by horseback to the various places the young mens' choir met. He also cut timber and sold it for lumber during the winter along with his farming."
