Coco was a Maltese, our family pet (the Johnson family of Hills, Minnesota) for around ten years. We adopted him from a family that was moving away in the early 1980's. He was born circa 1982. He was overall a good dog, and a good guard dog. He favored my mom and middle sister above all others, and was wary of strangers. When my sisters married and had children, Coco was advanced in age, and not good with little kids, so the decision was made to give him to the Humane Society. That was in February 1993, when I was just under 13. Twenty years later I can recall how painful the days that followed were and the absence that was felt. We were told an old lady adopted him. I saved his collar, but regret to say it was lost. Presumably Coco would have died sometime in the 1990s or early 2000s. I hope the rest of his life was happy, and that he was well cared for.
Blessed be his memory, and may his canine soul rest in peace!
(The image is not actually Coco, but a non-copyrighted photo of a Maltese from a web search. I hope one day to find a picture of Coco that can be posted here. Also, thanks for the tokens and remembrances!)
