Funeral services for longtime Seminole resident I.L. Blankenship are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 23 at Swearingen Funeral Chapel with Brother H.K. Griffin officiating.
Interment is to follow services at Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.
Blankenship, 86, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2004 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Nov. 2, 1918 in Seminole to Dave and Pearl Vivan (Shelton) Blankenship.
He married Shirley Ann Urban on Aug. 30, 1959 in Carson City, Nev. and he was a member of the Church of God in Maud.
Blankenship was a retired merchant marine officer of the United States Navy and had served aboard the U.S.S. Whitney as a Boilermaker 2nd Class.
His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
Surviving him is his wife of the home; son Lynn Blankenship Jr. of Maud; two daughters, Shirley L. Blankenship of Tulsa and Brigette McClanahan of Wewoka; one brother, Glenn Blankenship of Midwest City; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Lash Blankenship, Blaize Blankenship, Buckey Blankenship, Lynn Blankenship, David Love and Clarence Hopper.
Acting as honorary bearers will be Josh Blankenship, Bryan Blankenship, Brent McClanahan, Raymond McClanahan and Stanley Kerr.
