Katherine Helen (Katie) Karrer of Swartz Creek, Michigan, entered eternal life on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Willowbrook Manor in Flint, Michigan, surrounded by her family. She was 83 years old.

Katherine was born May 3, 1926 in Lafferty, Ohio, the daughter of John and Anna (Bukovinsky) Sopko. They moved to Swartz Creek shortly thereafter. She graduated from Mary Crapo High School in 1945.

On October 14, 1950 she married the love of her life, Edwin (Jack) Karrer. Together they had four children. They enjoyed traveling, snowmobiling, trips to their cabin, camping, winters in Springhill, Florida, Tiger baseball games, and attending Swartz Creek sporting events. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her favorite pastime was shopping with her granddaughters.

She was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, the 50 and Over Club, and CCW.

Cherishing her memory are husband, Jack; daughter Linda, and husband Douglas Henry, of Swartz Creek; two sons, David Karrer of Grand Blanc; Dennis Karrer of Swartz Creek; three granddaughters, Amanda (Wesley) Meckstroth of Linden, Kori (Ben) Smyth of Swartz Creek, Kimberly (Bradley) Herd of Raeford, NC; four great-grandchildren, River, Davin, and Melody Meckstroth, and Andrew Jack Herd. Sister, Ann Pucilowski of Grand Blanc; two brothers, Paul Sopko of Flushing, Francis Sopko and wife, Lawanda of Swartz Creek, sister in law, Arlene Shell of Flint, brother in law, Jim McManus of Swartz Creek, special friend, Carole Martin, the entire Henry family, especially Matt and Tracy and their children, Autumn, Cal, Heath, and Haven; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter, Debra Karrer; two sisters, Margaret Hurbis and Mary Rose Jewell; two brothers, Andrew and John Sopko, brother-in-law Fern Shell and sister-in-law Maxine McManus.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Willowbrook Manor and Heartland Hospice. Their wonderful care and compassion will never be forgotten.

Visitation: Wednesday March 24, 2010 from 6pm - 8pm and Thursday March 25, 2010 from 1-8pm with a rosary at 7pm at Sharp Funeral Home, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek.

Funeral Mass: Friday, March 26, 2010 at 10am at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Rd., Swartz Creek.

Interment: Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Memorials: Swartz Creek Veterans Memorial Fund.
