My wife.

Connie was born on July 17, 1951 in Lincoln, NE. She went through the school system there and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. She gave birth to a daughter on July 5, 1971. We were married on June 30, 1984. We had no children together.

She worked at various jobs through the 1970's until attending Southeast Community College in Lincoln and becoming a LPN. For the rest of her working life, she worked as a nurse in various settings, mostly in nursing homes.

In March 1992, due to circumstances I won't get into here, she became permanently disabled, brain damaged and bedridden. For all intents and purposes, she ceased living then - what was left was a "shell" of a human being.

Connie was in a Persistent Vegetative State (PVS) for the rest of her life, over 12 years. (Remember Terri Schiavo in Florida? Exactly the same condition as her.) She resided in a nursing home in Vancouver, WA under 24 hour care, unable to do anything for herself.

However, unlike Schiavo's case, I didn't start up with another woman and have a child with her like Mr. Schiavo did. I also didn't discontinue her gastrointestinal tube feeding like he did. I left her in the hands of God to make the final decision as to when she would die and go to heaven. It wasn't up to me to decide.

Then, in the early morning hours of June 4, 2004 she passed on from a heart attack. Eternal peace was found at last as God took her hand and guided her into the white light.
