My Uncle Joe
One of my favorite Uncles.
Beloved Husband of the late Helen Koper Stempien. They married on February 15, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan.
Beloved Father of 9 sons: Joseph Jr. (Mary), Ronald (Eva), William, Charles (Sherie), Robert (Carol), Anthony (Carolyn), David (Paulette), Richard (Veronica), & Leonard (Lee).
Beloved Father of 2 daughters: Delores (Bob) Linton & Patsy Crow.
Beloved grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, uncle, & brother.
I spent a lot of vacations @ Uncle Joe & Aunt Helen's when I was young.
I remember Uncle Joe telling me that he was in the Merchant Marines & that he had an anchor tattoo.
One of his daughters says no about the Merchant Marines. I'll have to ask his older sons.
I remember Uncle Joe as quite the wine maker. It was one of the many talents that he had. He would make all varities. It was something that was handed down to him from his Father & that was learned in Poland. Uncle Joe would be proud to know that some of his sons & now a grandson have now taken up the family hobby. One of his sons has even built his own walk-in cellar. They hold monthly tastings & yearly competitons amongst themselves & the rest of the wine tasting group they started in their very rural area.
