Charles W Nelson, 69, Iron River, died peacefully at his home in Iron River on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept 13, 1937, in Superior, to Roland and Edith (Seyffer) Nelson. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Charles married Delores Pelander in Holdridge, NE on September 23, 1956 and celebrated 50 years of marriage. He was employed as a lineman for Ameritech Phone Co for 30 years before his retirement n May 14, 1992. Charles was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Iron River and the AT & T Pioneers of America. He was an avid fisherman and hunter throughtout his entire life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two aunts, Charlotte Seyffer and Eunice Kaphingst; two uncles, Robert Seyffer and Ben Nelson.
In addition to his wife Delores, Charles is survived by one daughter, Betty (Gordon) Lahti, San Francisco, CA; two sons, William of Duluth, MN and Robert (Carolyn) of Leakey, TX; six grandchildren, Jeremiah (Aimee) Glonek, Captain Joshua (Dana) Glonek, Sarah Glonek, David Nelson, William Nelson Jr and Angela Belt; two great-granddaughters; one brother, James (Judy) of Iron River; one niece, Kristin (Bryan) Hope of Spring Hill, FL; one nephew, Steven (Melissa) Nelson of Prospect, KY; and several grand nieces and grand nephews.
Pallbearers are Jeremiah Glonek, Joshua Glonek, Sarah Glonek, Steven Nelson, Bryan Hope and Jonathon Hope. Burial will be in the Iron River City Cemetery.
