Retired Holley carburetor plant worker Virginia Cherry, 82, of Cottage Grove died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Paris Healthcare Center.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McEvoy Funeral Home.

Gary S. Collier will officiate. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and after noon Tuesday.

Born Aug. 18, 1925, in Carroll County, she was a daughter of Ernest Fred Prince and Lyndell Wilson Prince, now both deceased.

She was married on Aug. 1, 1942, to Jim Cherry, who died Jan. 5, 1970.

She was a member of Central Point Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

She leaves two daughters: Brenda (Tellie) Muzzall of Springville and Judy (Dennis) Gabel of Cottage Grove; one son: Kenny (Anne) Cherry of Paris;

Three sisters: Rachel Bowden of Paris and Sue Todd and Joyce Hale, both of Yuma; eight grandchildren: Dennis Cherry, Melissa Watkins, Brian and Stephen England, Patty Climer, Crystal Cherry, Melanie Scott and Travis Gabel; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Janice Carol Cherry in infancy; a son: Larry Cherry in 2001; one sister: Mary Evelyn White; a brother: Charles Prince; and a grandchild: Richard Kibbler.
