Private/Corporal, Company B, 7th Tennessee Cavalry, enlisted in Carroll Co, TN on 8/13/1862 and mustered in Benton Co, TN on 8/17/1862, furnishing his own horse and equipment. He was captured and paroled at the battle of Trenton, TN. Presumed captured again with the regiment at Union City, TN on 3/24/1864, he was taken to Andersonville Prison in Georgia where he died of typhoid fever. His widow, Mary Elizabeth Williams Joyner, applied for a pension in 1867. The minor children, Isaac and Harriett Joyner, applied for a pension in 1869. Joyner was the son of Moses (Co B) and Mary Reed Joyner of Carroll Co, TN.
