Funeral services for June (Thornton) Baldridge, 83, Pryor, are 2 p.m., Thursday, May 19, at Stephens Memorial Chapel. Dr. Mike Cox will officiate and burial will follow at Ross-Mayes Cemetery, Salina. Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel.
Baldridge was born June 9, 1927, in Dora, Mo., to Albert and Zellah (Carney) Routh. She died May 16 at her home in Pryor at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 8 days.
After she graduated from Salina High School, she enrolled at the Chicago Hollywood Beauty College in Tulsa, graduating from there on August 14, 1946. She had a beauty shop in her home for several years. She retired from Salina Public Schools where she was a teacher's aide at the high school.
Baldridge was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salina, where she taught Sunday School classes for many years. She remained very close to all the kids that she had in her classes throughout the years. She currently attended First Baptist Church in Pryor.
She loved to garden and plant everything, especially trees. She was a very giving person who would help anyone that needed it. Her family was the most important part of her life and she will be missed by many.
On March 18, 1948, she married Ray Thornton in Bristow and became the mother to his children, Faye Packard and husband Jim, Salina, Carol June Thornton (deceased) and wife Mildred, Claremore, Everett Thornton and wife Lorene, Claremore. Ray preceded her in death on March 21, 1975. From this family she is also survived by six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Vera Holloway, Pryor, and Doris Bledsoe, Chula Vista, Cali.; special friends Curtis, Catherine and Helen Farrar and Cathy Schultz Repass; several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
On July 18, 1988, she married John Baldridge in Muskogee. John preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1993. She is survived by his children John Baldridge, Jr., Claremore, Martha Fox, Claremore, Dr. William Baldridge, Liberty, Mo., Robert Baldridge, Salina, James Baldridge, Claremore; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to both of her husbands and one son she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Claris Routh and sisters Dorothy Routh and Lorene Routh. (MillieBelle)
