Mrs. Emma E. Bates
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma E. Bates, widow of Charles F. Bates, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at her home on the Old Newport Road with the Rev. Ondon P. Stairs officiating.
Bearers were Carl Bates, Ralph Tewksbury and Earl Sawtelle. Burial was in the Crocker cemetery in St. Albans.
She was born in Corinna the daughter of Jonathan and Melissa W. Libby, and lived here (Dexter) most of her life.
Surviving are a son, Carl, and two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Bessy) Tewksbury and Mrs. Earl (Louise) Sawtelle of Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Della Shorey of Corinna, and Mrs. Clara Benfield of Exeter, N. H.; and four grandchildren, Mildred, Wayne, Beverly Jean, and Elmer Sawtelle.
